RIAA Letter

Everyone got a letter from SecurePurdue about the RIAA's most recent action against Piracy.
Here is Dtella Labs' current response:
- Dtella is many times more safe than using torrents etc.
- It's not 100% safe, nor 100% secure
- But it's all on campus, and that's a huge adv. in staying anonymous
- The riaa tracks users from the public internet, not on campus here
- So, if you connect to edonkey, or some torrent where an RIAA agent is present, you could be caught because they'll see that you're seeding the file or what have you, this includes using resnet, airlink, or an itap lab to download, they all can be tracked; Dtella doesn't work like that
- Dtella keeps all of its file transfer traffic within the campus network, that means the RIAA won't be here to figure out what's being shared / downloaded
- They'll be out *there*
What the EFF has to say about it:
"The RIAA and MPAA have sued college students for using publicly-accessible file sharing networks, including systems like i2hub. However, with one particularly notable exception, the RIAA and MPAA have not targeted users downloading or uploading music over closed, college campus intranets -- in other words, students sharing with other students at the same school over the school's own network. Tracking intranet infringements is practically more difficult, though not necessarily impossible."
